Are you interested in learning about the Catholic Church? Please consider joining our OCIA program. New classes start every September. We would love to have you join us!
OCIA is first and foremost a journey, rather than a program because it is a spiritual journey that varies according to the individual heart and needs of each inquirer or seeker.
The program focuses on faith development and on nurturing one’s relationship with God and the larger Christian community of the parish while learning the teachings of the Catholic Church. Throughout the year inquirers will move through four distinct stages, discerning at each stage rather to continue on the journey to full membership with the Catholic Church culminating at the Easter Vigil.
If this is something you are interested in or know someone interested in learning more about the church, please consider inquiring about the RCIA program. Classes start in September. If you would like more information, please contact Ginette at the parish office 503-668-4446 Ext. 106 or email gperry@stmichaelsandy.org.
OCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children) is similar to our RCIA program however, it is designed for children who are not baptized and seven years old and older. Individuals learn about the Catholic faith using age-appropriate curriculum. Then at Easter time, they are baptized, confirmed, and receive of Holy Eucharist.
